Jo Camponovo, yoga teacher, events manager and founder of Yoga Grooves is a Mother of 2 born in Perth Western Australia. She became a fitness instructor at age 15 and was introduced to yoga 4 years later.
Jo has been practising yoga for over 20 years. She first learned of yoga through her interest, passion and complete love of dance and at the same time her search for something deeper through meditation. Yoga helped Jo through many journeys including two pregnancies and magical births she describes as something so empowering and wonderful. Yoga helped create positive journeys for these special experiences.
In 2004 Jo became ill and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. With a specific yoga program designed to help stimulate the thyroid she dramatically improved, although it was a difficult year long battle. It was after that moment that she decided to become a teacher to spread the joy of yoga to others. Since yoga helped her so much, how could she not share this and help others?
With a background in Iyengar from her teacher Sam Weinstein she gathers from her own creative style combining the knowledge of her training with an experiential spirit in the love of creating new things in her exploration of yoga. Jo has also experience with Pilates through the WA School of Pilates.
She recently completed the AcroYoga teacher training in Montreal Canada with Eugene Poko and Jessica Goldberg and is currently the first and only fully certified AcroYoga teacher in Perth Western Australia.
Jo has taught yoga nationally in Australia and internationally in Indonesia and Malaysia.
Jo's classes are spontaneous, unpredictable, free spirited, joyous and fun! Essentially, Jo teaches that yoga is fun, yoga is healthy, yoga is so many things and yoga can help you in everything you do.
