Justine graduated from Acro Yoga Montreal’s very first Lvl 1 & 2 teacher training programs. She has always been very much drawn to Jessie and Eugene’s approach, which enforces practising with mindfulness while exercising complete body and spatial awareness. She enjoys the opportunity to apply her creative skills and experience in dance and martial arts to develop new sequences and transition moves. As a result of jamming with her fellow yogis/yoginis, she has gained a better appreciation for working within the limits of one’s comfort zone and abilities, both on a personal and group level.
Justine’s teaching practise is based in Ottawa, Canada, and leads classes at several venues throughout the city, including Upward Dog Yoga, Adishesha Yoga Zone, Mountaingoat Yoga, Santosha Yoga, and her workplace, National Defence. Apart from her training with Acro Yoga Montreal, she completed a 200-hr teaching certification with Yogi Vishvketu at Upward Dog Yoga in 2006, as well as a 40-hr Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series teacher training course with David Swenson in 2007. In the fall of 2011, she obtained her 500-hr level certification from Sri Dharma Mittra's school in New York City, marking her as the first Canadian teacher of the Dharma Yoga lineage. Justine offers workshops and intensives on a frequent basis, both locally and abroad in Europe.
Justine looks to acrobatic partner/group yoga to strengthen and diversify her personal practise, and to fuel her experimentation with yoga choreography. She is working to bring acro yoga more into the mainstream of yoga class offerings in the Ottawa area. She is constantly on the lookout for opportunities to jam with other acro yoga junkies…
