Tam Tilton, founder of Yoga Rootage, leads Yoga, AcroYoga and Contact Improvisation dance workshops, Yoga Fun for Kids classes, Yoga-inspired wellness retreats worldwide. She also offers Thai Yoga Massage and Flying Therapeutics to private clients.
After parenting two amazing children and a career in finance and technology, Tam
studied dance and music theatre at Arizona State university, Western Oregon University, and University of Oregon. Her personal journey towards wholeness and balance led her to Yoga in the 1980’s. She is grateful to have rooted in a Yoga practice that grounded her and supported her successes in life.
Her first Yoga teacher, Desiree Rumbaugh, inspired her. During the past twenty years, she has studied Yoga and meditation with numerous teachers and styles. She travelled to Thailand and completed a 200-hour Yoga teacher certification course with Wise Living Yoga Academy, an affiliate of the Yoga Institute of Mumbai, India. She taught Thai children ‘Yoga for Kids’ in a bi-lingual class. She also completed courses and workshops in traditional Thai massage, Chi Nei Tsang, Partner Yoga, Flying Therapeutics and is a Certified AcroYoga Montreal teacher.
Tamra was introduced to Contact Improvisation dance in 2006 and it has become integral to her artistic explorations. She engages in regular practice in the CI communities in the USA and internationally. She has hosted weekly CI Dance Jams in Oregon, Arizona and Thailand. She founded Ripe Dance to offer intergenerational dance workshops and performances and facilitates Scottsdale Contact Lab in Arizona.
Her teaching style is fun and joyful, gentle, wise and compassionate. She enjoys encouraging others to live out their dreams and highest potentialities. AcroYoga is a beautiful tool she discovered to enhance relationships, encourage expression, build trust and community connectedness.
