This Teacher Training program has a rich history and is in constant
evolution. Founded by Eugene Poku and Jessica Goldberg in 1999, Acroyoga
Montreal connects human beings through the transformative power of
collective movement and play. The Level 1 Acroyoga Montreal Teacher
Training are Continuing Education certified via Yoga Alliance.
The
Level 1 Teacher Training can be described as a crucible in which the
physical, social and spiritual intersect, forging a solid foundation as a
practitioner, teacher and community member.
In this training you will strengthen your yoga practice, personal fitness and observational skills, and learn to implement these in your acroyoga teaching. You will gain tools to guide accessible and engaging introductory classes, workshops, and beginner series in acroyoga, in a way that keeps students coming back for more! Level 1 teaches us that the key to an advanced practice is the ability to return to the fundamentals. For this reason many certified teachers keep returning to Level 1 to refresh themselves while enjoying the strong emphasis on physical fitness.
The concern with the well-being and the inclusion of the other is a trademark of this style. As I see, the aim of AcroYoga Montreal isn’t to conquer tricks, be able to reproduce flows/combos, do handstand or whatever other acrobatic stunt. The aim is the development of autonomy and the possibility of moving together with other people, in a search for authentic and liberating expressions that exists in all of us, in a not only bodily, but also of one’s own consciousness expansion.
The teachers are nurturing and scientific in the way they educate, strengthen, and pass on this valued and cherished practice, in the most articulate of ways. It was an honor to train with them, and the only way to feel the love is to be a part of it. Long live acroyoga!
Inspired by AcroYogini and dear friend, Einat Bardea, July 2013 had me undergo the month long teacher training with AcroYoga Montreal, in the vibrant and festive French Canada. This marked the beginnings of an incredible Acro adventure, full of travel, street performing, acrobatic training and teaching! Along the way I practiced and taught with many different people. Each new acrobatic relationship formed had me learning sooo much about myself! That is one of the main things I love about this practice of AcroYoga!
Acroyoga makes me feel life in an explosive and intense way, and this has changed me forever. For this, it makes sense to believe in acroyoga as a tool to change the world. About the teachers, impeccable is still a word that does not translate, but that every form approaches my feeling with relation to all aspects (communication, presence, love, attention, didactic, teaching, technique...). I have participated in many Immersions, never had so much impeccability and mastery before."
Thank you for teaching me your art and coming on the journey with me. In four weeks, I didn’t always want to but you required me to show up everyday for morning practice and demonstrated the power of commitment, determination and dedication. You also demonstrated the power, of a fit body and clear mind. All I can say is: Core, baby!
